The only part that concerns me is the hammering off the harmonic balancer onto the hub. My understanding is any sort of serious hammering would upset the races, lash, bearing and such. I suggest using a longer bolt to draw in the balancer a bit, then go to the old bolt unless you can use an installer tool for this unit.

Three weeks later one of the tensioner assembly bolts sheared off at the engine block rendering the car with inop alt/ps. Took the car to Honda and they replaced the tensioner (alt/ps) assembly and used new bolts. Two months later the bolt sheared again. Took the car back to Honda who fixed it for free with new assembly and new bolts.

I own a civic 2007, manual variant. I read the thread and want to know if the tensioner is the same as what the mechanics call a part as adjuster. That part has a belt over it and there is a noise gari k pick mein and I’m facing the same issue in my civic 9th gen. Apart from this my car is approaching 100k kms so I’m worried about the cat.
